2019 Songs of The Year

Yay! Finally got the time to make this VIP (Very Important Post). Let's skip the intro and get right to the list!!!

Uhm no, some intro is still needed:

There will be 10 songs that are released on 2019, and then I will mention some songs released before 2019 but I'm still loving them this year, plus some honorable mentions of 2019 songs (dedicated for songs I don't listen often but are actually very good)

Okay now LET'S GET IT~!!!

10. Red Velvet - Umpah Umpah

Remember the old saying (of me LOL)? If I love a song so much I will learn the dance, Umpah Umpah is dat song this year. I discovered this song quite late because it was released when I was away in the inland of Central Sulawesi doing my community service program. But rite after coming back to Yogyakarta, I listened to it and BAAM~ it's such a good song! It got the Disney vibes (HSM vibes too I guess). Such a fun and happy song <3 RED indeed! Favorite release from RV after... Bad Boy? The chorus is the best part, it builds up from the pre-chorus that's kinda slow, the chorus starts as fun, and then there's the epic high note, then the 'umpah-umpah' part! Love it! The dance is also SOMETHING UNFORGETTABLE~

9. ITZY - ICY/ MAMAMOO - Gogobebe

These songs are both my jam~ the kinda of song that make you want to move your body and feel 100% better. Also, both groups are my GIRL CRUSHES! Their concepts scream STRONG, DIFFERENT, CONFIDENT and INDEPENDENT! Fun fact about ICY: I love the song because of a Kpop Kardio LOL, thanks for helping me burn calories, gurls~ and I love Gogobebe because it's a catchy song, it's also fun to sing in the noraebang with friends!

8. Chungha - Gotta Go/Snapping & Sunmi - LALALAY

QUEENS! Guess 2019 is the year of self discovery where I discover the badass side of me WKWKWK (wut/iz/diz). But really, if you remember my preferences for girl songs used to be for the cutesy ones like A Pink, Oh My Girl and From_is. It's not that I don't like them anymore sih, they just happened to not release anything match my taste this year.

Gotta Go has amazing and iconic choreo, and I love the post-chorus MOST! I personally think the song would be so much better if the post-chorus is repeated again in the end (where there's only long instrument and chorus). It would hit more right if the post-chorus played after the instrument.

As for Snapping, I fell for the song because of the lyrics, I found myself obsessed over "Doesn't matter what you baby hate or love" and the choreo, the performance, everything is so dope in this song! Chungha is definitely the most successful Produce series alumni!

Sunmi! Not a fan of Noir but LALALAY slays hard! Again, I fell for the song because of the choreo. Sunmi's charisma is also very attractive in LALALAY. Also when it comes to soloist like Hyuna, Sunmi and Chungha, I really love their interaction with the back dancers! :") Not related but Seulgi would make a very good soloist if SM debuts her with strong concept like Hyuna/Sunmi/BoA/Chungha, not vocally like Taeyeon/IU. Wendy matches the latter more.

7. NIKI - Lowkey

Thanks to my friend from the Felis catus species to introduce me this song. The acoustic version is the one I like most. Such a nice song to sing along~ with the raps, the repetitive lyrics, feel-good melodies~ NIKI is a rising queen for sure! Note that 2019 is also the year where I no longer put big concern on lyrics, I mean, I used to love songs mostly for its relatable lyrics, I would hate those I can't relate to. But I obviously can't relate with 'Lowkey' lyrics kkk~

6. (G)I-DLE - Lion

Another queen! I was skeptical with them since the rumor (it's confirmed tho) of Hui and Soojin dating in the past. As a BIG fan of Hui and he was facing the departure of E'dawn, his group mate, I disliked the fact that he was dragged into another 'problem'. I also only liked LATATA and HAN, their first two songs and not rly a fan of Uh Oh and Senorita. At first when Lion was released on Queendom, I didn't even bother to listen to it just because~ but then the bop was played in a Korean event I attended last month and someone was dancing to it and BAAM~! I automatically thought, "I NEED TO LEARN DAT DANCE!" the lion and crown choreos are epic!

So it happened, I listen to the song every fxxxin day... it's so good, Soyeon is a genius and Soojin has strong stage presence, now I stan her tho I hate her before LOL. Prove of how good she is that she can turn a hater into a fan~

5. Honne - Location Unknown / Lauv ft. Troye Sivan - I'm so tired

Please note that I only love both songs for the particular 'session'. For Location Unknown it's the Brooklyn one and for I'm So Tired  it's the LA one. I forget which one appeared first on my Youtube recommendation early this year, but one song led me to the other one. Ah! These two are possibly the only songs I like for the relatable lyrics this 2019, especially I'm So Tired. Troye and Lauv voices are also very good! The emotions they put for the song are also remarkable, it traveled all the way from LA into my heart. I especially love the LA version because it's more emotional and have a special part, my favorite part, "Somebody cover up my ears~ somebody save me from my heart, somebody take me out from here and rip the speakers off my car. 'Cause I'm ready to love ya~ and I'm ready to lose ya'~ but I can't wait here any longer~~"

Location Unknown is actually not relatable as a whole song but some parts are relatable af, example, "I don't care how long it takes I know you'll be worth the wait". That lyrics make me hopeful about my future. My love for the song decreased when it went viral here in Indonesia because of Gempi LOL.

Both songs are also in the regular bathroom concert playlist this year! Ha!

4. BTS - Make It Right

A song that make me love BTS again. A song that I love so much I even made a post just for it! WKWKWK...

The song is so Lauv style but turned out it wasn't him composing. For me, this song smoothly delivers BTS' feelings for ARMY. The lyrics are touching and pure :") The members' vocals also amazed me (again), maybe it's also because of their sincerities. Make It Right deserves all the remix LOL, it's such a good song!

3. SHAUN - Bad Habits

WISH I COULD LET YOU GO~~~

Loved the song for that particular lyrics, stayed for the overtune near the end of the song! I don't really understand how but it's December and when I look back, I can't deny I listen to Bad Habits almost on daily basis without going bored and always anticipating the beat drop in the end~ Maybe it's also Shaun's voice. It's beautiful~

2. NCT Dream - BOOM

THIS IS HOW YOU MAKE A COMEBACK!

NCT Dream first comeback without Mark Lee was worrisome for me but turned out BOOM! Jeno, Jaemin, Haechan, Renjun, Chenle, and Jisung proved they're just fine (if not better wkwkw) without their beloved leader. I normally disliked shift of concepts, more when it's from cute/fresh/youthful to sexy/mature/bold but BOOM is an exception. NCT released some songs this year but this one is my fav, guess Dream is really the superior unit kkkk~ the choreo is also very pleasing to watch! Their performance is lit. Jeno isn't my fav member but his stage behaviour and facial expressions are mad in this comeback, mad respect to him as well. Jisung's voice in the last chorus and Jaemin's "ice cream". Ah, I'm a spoiled noona for such good bop~

1. ATEEZ - Wave

MY ULTIMATE JAM OF THE YEAR!!!!!!

- don't know which video to insert because everything is so gud -

For this comeback, they released two songs for fans to  choose which one to promote. I haven't started to stan them back then so I was kunfused, I listened first to Illusion and the just ignored it, minutes later the song rang in my brain which meant I liked it but forgot the title so I just randomly clicked on Wave MV and got even more kunfused because it was a different song BUT ALSO VERY GOOD!?!?!?!

Wave is the song that made me put my eyes on ATEEZ, heard them since their debut but I was uninterested because their first songs are more on the dark side (Pirate Kings, Hala Hala, Say My Name) and I quickly judged them as being generic (BTS, Big Bang, Monsta X, iKON) but Wave with its bright concept (it's a summer song) made me fell in love. It's such a happy song, a moodbooster, the choreo and performance are also legit, their style, expressions, everything! What's amazing is that the whole album is a treasure! It's their third mini-album "Treasure Ep. 1: One To All", with Illusion and Wave as title tracks, and there are other songs: Utopia (MY FAV!), Aurora, and Dancing Like Butterfly Wings. Every damn songs are BOPS and very uplifting. I love them, my album of the year (I literally played the whole mini-album almost everyday). ATEEZ also performed every songs and the choreos are <3333

The song that made me officially an Atiny is Wonderland tho, their latest comeback. They went back to their bold side but now I stan! LOL. I hope they will release another summer mini-album next year!!! Every year, if they could :3

YAY! It's sad not to have some familiar names on the list :") Block B, iKON, and Day6 are regulars on the list but Block B doesn't release anything this year, iKON got a problem... and I'm just not really into Day6  happier songs LOL. I actually still listen to Day6 a lot like OF COURSE! but more to their old songs or b-tracks (the sad ones). Now let's get to that list:

Songs I listen a lot in 2019 but released in different year:

1. Day6 - Somehow
2. The Rose - Like We Used To
3. Taeyeon - Fine
4. Sunmi - Siren
5. Ben - 180 degree
6. Adhitia Sofyan - Blue Sky Collapse
7. I won't mention some songs because they're basically my all time fav songs, the six above maybe will be included to that category next year~

Honorable mentions (for 2019 songs that I don't listen often but are good):

1. Day6 - Sweet Chaos
2. SuperM - Jopping
3. WayV - Moonwalk
4. Oh My Girl - The Fifth Season
5. AOA - Come See Me
6. Stray Kids - MIROH (uh oh should've put this on big 10)
7. will  add when I get the idea

Nanti Kita Sambat Tentang Hari Depan

Woi Fan, kok sambat terus sih :")

Semangat, kawan~
